Having Purpose In Business

Posted On: 2006-01-19Length: 21:22

Listen to this podcast

Well hello, hello ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls of all ages. Here we are from our new high-tech studio, in the heart of northern California. I am joined as always with Lee, the strong man.

Hey out there!

Dr. Andy is around here somewhere.

I'm back here.

Ooohh. Voices from the sky. And that man laughing is Paul Sanneman.

Hey, I got this thing to work, give me a break. Sort of.

And our featured special guest.

All right.

Mr. Chipman.

Hola!

Steve.

Steve Chipman. Ok.

We have a studio audience. That's all those naked chicks in the studio, right?

I can see them now.

Close your eyes you can figure it out. Ok, so

Video at 11.

This is our official, actually it's our first podcast of the new year. I mean it's not a New Year's podcast.

And where are we?

We're in downtown Santa Rosa.

But where are we?

Netcast central.

And where's that?

Netcast Central is in downtown Santa Rosa.

It's the heart of dry country.

Right, we've been flooded out here for the last week.

But we have an all new exciting place from which we can talk to you from.

That's right. We actually built this studio.

We have couches, and we have

Because there's girls on the wall.

Yeah, we have pictures. We have a television.

Mirrors on the ceiling.

Mirros on the ceiling.

Software.

Yeah, we've got all kinds of new software, new hardware. All kinds of good stuff.

A refrigerator filled with liquid.

Beer.

Couches.

And couches. And pillows that have tiger, uh.

Purrrrrrrr.

Although I did learn never put heffervisen on its side.

That's right.

Hey, note to self-never BUY heffervisen, because it's crap.

That's right. Bad beer.

It's not bad, it's just weak. It doesn't understand itself.

So, tonight, what does a cow have to do with weak? So here we are, tonight we're going to talk about, come on Lee, what did I say we'd talk about?

Purpose.

Purpose.

Purpose? What's the point of that?

I believe that the most important thing in business is purpose. Now Steve, for example, in this podcasting thing that we're doing, right?

Yes.

Um, aren't you more interested in this than your own business?

A definitive yes.

He's hesitating.

Nodding won't work.

They can't see the nodding. It's like when Bush waved to, you know, the blind guy. Doesn't work.

Doesn't work. I'm starting to get it. This is an audio thing.

This is an audio thing. Now we are videoing it for future posterity when we actually do more video, but it's an audio thing.

It's more like for future posteriors.

So to answer you question, the purpose is to enjoy what you're doing, and to also make enough money to get by.

To get by. Now you've worked on your company how many years?

Ten.

Ten years.

Yes.

And it has grown from what to what?

It has grown from one guy running around as a sole consultant,

That's you.

To 10 gainfully employed individuals.

I see. And how much money do you make out of this great enterprise?

It varies. It's in the high ones.

You can just say, what $120,000 a year, 150,000 a year?

75. 175,000.

175,000 a year. So you make a good living. You make a good living. So, but when this podcasting thing came up that we're doing...
